For a guest list full of New Yorkers, Maddie and Ethan’s wedding at Amaterra felt like a perfect introduction to the Pacific Northwest
Most of the guests came in from New York, and Amaterra ended up being the perfect setting. It has a polished, elevated feel, but still feels connected to Portland’s natural beauty. The view, the trees, and the light gave the day a distinctly Pacific Northwest atmosphere without making a big show of it.
Amaterra is really good for that kind of wedding. It feels modern and refined, but not cold. It gives you a strong setting right away, especially if you have a lot of guests coming in from out of town and want them to actually feel like they are somewhere distinct. It is one of those venues that can hold a bigger, more layered day without losing its shape.
They also had a strong team around them, which always helps. Your Perfect Bridesmaid handled planning and design, Caroline Reusen Flowers brought in the florals, Powder Inc. was on hair and makeup, Columbia River Strings played for the ceremony, Dancehall Days handled the reception and emcee duties, Dream Cakes made dessert, Marsh + Mallow came in later for snacks, and Wags + Garland handled their dog for the ceremony. Greenlight, Elite Photo Booth, Courting Design, and Aspen Limo all helped round out a day that had a lot going on, but never felt all over the place.
What we liked most about this one was that it really did feel like a blend of worlds. There was something about the energy of all their New York people showing up in Portland, mixed with the softer landscape and pace of Amaterra, that made the whole thing feel specific to them. Not just a beautiful wedding, but a wedding that made sense in this exact place with this exact group.
